Passport to Great Spirits 2014 Limited Edition

Many of you have been waiting for this since January...this time around, we offer an even more spectacular selection than we had for the 2013 edition! $400 per ticket entitles you to 13 1-ounce
pours to choose within a selection of 63 spirits. You can enjoy your tasting program between Sunday, December 21st, 2014 until Tuesday, January 6th, 2015, from pre-identified bottles or chosen right there and then. You can share your experience with your friends...or not. Out of 13 different pours (you cannot get 12 pours of Pappy 23 years), 3 must be non-whisk(e)y. In this list, you will find 27 Scotch whiskies, 14 American whiskies, 6 Japanese whiskies, 1 Irish whiskey, 3 Cognacs, 5 Armagnacs, 2 Calvados, 3 rums, 2 Tequilas. The Glenfiddich 15 years...the Brandy Library way!

Have we totally lost it? Is this some sort of crafty gimmick?  
Well, we always try to bring these wonderful spirits to you as "naked" as possible.
So many bars use very old single malts, Bourbons or ryes, etc. to craft their otherwise delicious cocktails, one may wonder if these libations aren't just wasted.... Let's get controversial here! You are fully entitled to have your  Sidecar made with Louis XIII or your Old-fashioned with a 25 year old Straight rye, but it is a sign of palate maturity to be able to enjoy a well-crafted spirit...STRAIGHT! Plus, worldwide stocks of these great old beverages have dwindled to tiny amounts and this keeps feeding detrimental price hikes...
Oh well, sometimes, you need to bring some fun into drinking, right? Getting creative and all! So, when the boys of The Glenfiddich asked us to come up with a way to best present their 15 year-old, here is what we came up with: the picture above!
Details: keep the Ravenscroft Single Malt Scotch glass in the freezer, along with the bottle itself. When serving, rim one third of the glass with a Sherry-and-superfine sugar coat, pour in 1 ounce of the glorious Glenfiddich 15 years, thick and velvety, and place a whole vanilla bean in the glass...Result: Hard Liquor just softened up! Oh wait, the secret ingredient: the heather honey, 1/2 ounce of it, placed at the bottom of the glass and frozen too! Kind of: it will (very) slowly diffuse into the malt. It's a great experience, between the aromas of the vanilla, the honey, the Sherry-sugar, all of these elements reveal and enhance the dram.
No ice, no bitters, no flowers! Refreshing and rich in the same time. Available at Brandy Library starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8th. It'll cost you $15

Meet our Lower East Side Outpost...Copper & Oak

Copper and Oak plans to be to the LES what Brandy Library has been to TriBeCa for the last 10 years.  That is a sort of Mecca to all of those who enjoy and appreciate the art form that is distilling and aging spirits.  Our dedication remains to provide a top notch experience through a knowledgeable staff who are expertly capable of helping you navigate through a "modest selection" of bottles.

Open Wednesday through Saturday, 5:00 pm until 1:00 am
  You will find at Copper & Oak the very same dedication to fine spirits we offer at Brandy Library, yet in a more casual, dressed down setting. In this tiny space wrapped around with your current and future favorite tipples, we've traded the soft jazz for a bit more upbeat 80's rock,  we won't accept reservations (first come, first serve).  And instead of comfy couches, we've lined one bar top with stools ((these are very comfy), leaving the opposite bar top for standing. But don't worry, we'll still offer food, however, it'll be more of a comfort snacks offering.
Whether you're just introducing your palate to gems like whisk(e)y, brandy, tequila and/or rum OR you've been enjoying them for as long as you can remember, you know that copper and oak - the materials - play a very important roll in the overall production of these spirits. The name and design of Copper and Oak pay very special homage to that fact.  You'll be hard pressed to find surfaces that aren't one of these two very fine materials.
All spirits are available by the 1 ounce or 2 ounces.
